Don't...do drugs or alcohol. These can actually make you feel worse.
Don't...be alone. Ideally, you should be with a trusted friend or adult. If that isn’t an option, go to a public place like a library, school, mall, church, or community center.
Don't...do activities that make you feel bad. Sad music and movies, old social media posts and texts, visiting the grave of a loved one–avoid them right now.
Don't...think about negative thoughts. Find a distraction. Watch a funny video. Listen to a happy song. Eat a yummy snack. Draw something.
What to do instead? Talk with someone. Use your safety plan (check it out in your profile). Make a schedule for your day and stick to it. Make time for things that you used to enjoy and do them. Remember your personal goals and values and write them down.
